A book I'd like to recommend is Seven Days In June by Tia Williams. 

Two writers who fell in love in high school, find their way back to each other at a literary event after not speaking for over 10 years. They have both grown up and become famous writers with cult like followings. Their reunion is heart warming at first, but they soon have to face their past of substance abuse, childhood trauma, and the true reason of why they broke up. 

The message communicated by the book is that sometimes the best way to show you love a person is to do what's best for them, which may result in the ending of the relationship/friendship. The book does a great job in conveying to the audience how important it is to take care of your physical and mental health, and to be with partners who have your best interest at heart.
