Your Snapchat Feed is About to Get a Big Interruption

Next time you’re clicking through DJ Khaled’s “mogul talk” videos on Snapchat, you may be delayed by ads. That’s right, they don’t want you keep up with your favorite celebrities and friends.

Just four years in, Snapchat users watch an estimated billion videos a day on the app. With a steadily rising number of users, Snapchat has officially decided to add third-party advertisements. From now on, as users swipe from story to story, they will be greeted by various advertisements. Although you can skip the ads, it’ll still pop up, some appearing in full screen and with sound (similar to YouTube’s advertising).

The third-party advertiser experience will also have more features. This includes allowing users to click and be taken to a longer video, an article, or even a website without leaving the app entirely. Snapchat has made a promise to review every single ad, but The Vergepointed out that Instagram also made that promise—and broke it quickly.

According to Adweek, the company is aiming to bring in a massive $1 billion by the end of 2017, along with $250 million to $350 million this year.
