Nijah Brenea

Hi Nijah! We’re so excited we get to introduce you to our audience. Introduce yourself!

“Hi everyone! My name is Nijah Brenea and I am an actress and comedian. “

So, let’s start from the beginning. Where are you originally from and what were your interests as a child? Did those interests lead you to what you do today?

“I am a military brat and moved around the southeast of the U.S. but I was raised in Columbus Ga. As a child I loved to sing and dance! I just knew I was going to be a singer when I grew up. I actually still feel like if I trained my voice I could be a professional singer. I loved to entertain and make people laugh. Those interests definitely lead to what I do now for a living. “

What or who inspired you to pursue this path?

“It may sound selfish but in the beginning I inspired myself. It was completely unorthodox a decade ago to really go after your dreams. I’m not sure what it was, maybe God, I felt damn near depressed doing what I didn’t want to do. Once I started following my inspirations I looked to random social media influencers that encouraged following your dreams. I started joining and building a community of other actors so that we build and uplift one another. “

What are your goals for your business/organization/artistry/self?

“My goals are to constantly elevate and be on a show or movie that I already watch or a cast majority of people enjoy. Not for the clout baby but for the residuals OK! Well clout translates to money nowadays so… I want to continue to grow not only financially but spiritually and personally. I would like to start a short term rental business as well as an event space rental. I want my money to constantly make more money. “

What are some of the challenges you’ve had to overcome in pursuit of this path?

“Omg the ups and downs of the business. The career path I chose is a marathon. Sometimes I am running full speed passing everyone and other times I’m defeated tired and waiting on someone to bring me water. I just have to tell myself it’s a part of the process and challenge myself on things to do during the “slow” times. Another challenge is there aren’t really any rules. Being super talented isn’t enough because sometimes it’s followers or knowing the right people. “

Who are your top influences today?

“Viola Davis, Dominique Fishback, Tailiah Breon, Black Women. I’m sure I left someone off. “

What does your support system look like? Who do you turn to when you need motivation or reassurance?

“I feel like my support system has grown now that I have proven myself. It consists of honestly my friends and family. I always turn to close friends for reassurance or my actor friends. It’s so important to have people who are doing the same thing as you to lean on.“

What would you say is your Magnum Opus? (Your best piece of work to date)

“Rap Sh.t on HBOmax playing Jazmín. However, I look forward to topping that performance. “

Can you see yourself doing this for the rest of your life or do you think you’ll eventually branch out into other endeavors?

“I already want to branch off in other endeavors so I could see acting forever but as well as other business ventures. I think once I become filthy freaking rich I will be super selective about when I work and take long periods of time off. “

If you could leave the world with one last thought,  what would it be?

“Question everything.”

Is there anything else we should know? Any exciting upcoming plans or things to look out for?

“Yes. KoldxWindy premieres on WeTV and AllBlk Jan 5. My first series regular lead role! “

Where can people find you online? How can people best support you?

“@nijahbrenea on everything and nijahbrenea.com. They can support me by watching my projects!”
